Bio

Ailis Marrero, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician with a decade of experience in providing primary and preventive healthcare services to adults and children. She is proficient in managing and coordinating care for complex patients with chronic illnesses including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity, cancer and behavioral health issues. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Marrero prides herself on the excellent rapport she is able to develop with her patients, and consistently attains the highest satisfaction ratings among those who count her as their primary care physician.

Dr. Marrero earned her Medical Degree and completed her family medicine residency at Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where she was an award-winning scholar who graduated in the 1st quartile of her class. Prior to that time, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles, where she was an honors student, and worked as a certified personal trainer and consultant for pediatric weight management programs.

As a physician who believes in giving back to her community and in reaching out to underserved populations, Dr. Marrero is actively involved in charitable endeavors and most recently participated in a medical mission to Guatemala in 2013.
