At Connerton Family Medicine, located in Connerton and near to the Land O’ Lakes community, we offer a variety of CDC-recommended shots and seasonal flu immunizations. Vaccines are a core component of preventive healthcare and today’s vaccines allow Tampa area children and adults to avoid several dangerous, highly contagious and expensive diseases just by keeping up with the recommended vaccine schedules.

For children aged 8 and up, getting their yearly flu vaccine and booster shots is typically a requirement before starting school, team sports or camp. However many adults neglect to similarly ensure their own protection against disease.  As a fully immunized adult, there are fewer booster shots that adults may need, but there is one immunization that is encouraged yearly, the flu shot. Every person aged 6 months and up should receive an annual flu shot, with a special emphasis on college-age kids who live in close quarters (dormitories), adults with small children or over the age of 50, anyone who works in a healthcare setting, pregnant women and women who will become pregnant.

We offer the following immunizations:

  • Meningitis
  • Hepatitis (A and B)
  • Shingles
  • Whooping cough
  • Chicken pox,
  • Tetanus
  • Pneumonia
  • Gardasil (HPV)

If you have misplaced or are unable to obtain vaccination records, a simple blood test may be able to measure your immunity against any particular illness. Adults and children intending to travel abroad may have additional vaccine needs and some vaccines require time before the shot will effectively immunize from diseases. Please consult your physician at least 6 weeks before your intended departure date, if you do not have access to your vaccination records, please allow for additional time to conduct appropriate immunity testing.
